Public Relations

Public Relations (PR) is an important aspect of any marketing plan. Getting mentioned in the media drives huge traffic to your website and with a correctly built website that has strong calls to action (CTA's), you can turn these visitors into customers. In just one year, Tasha got her corporate employer mentioned in Investment News, Life & Health Advisors on numerous occasions, National Underwriter, Life Insurance Selling Magazine, HR.com, Source Media, and even Trusts & Estates Magazine. Media coverage not only creates exposure, it builds credibility. But how do you get heard in the media?

Getting a journalist to respond to you!

Public Relations

The first step is to make sure you are reaching out to the appropriate media contacts. Social Media 22 will provide you with a list of targeted media contacts - Journalists/reporters/bloggers that cover your area of expertise. In addition, you will receive a list of media outlets that report on your type of business, product or service.

Next, what is your pitch?

It’s important to realize what people are talking about within your industry – what is the current buzz? The media reports on what people are talking about and what people are interested in.

This can be done in many ways including but not limited to:

  • Search keywords relevant to your business on Twitter at www.search.twitter.com. Know up to the minute conversations and build off of these for your pitch.
  • Set up Google Alerts at www.google.com/alerts using keywords. You will get daily emails giving you news, articles, blogs that are talking about the keywords you set an alert for. (Tip: set up an alert for your company name to pick up on anything being said about your company!).
  • Browse conversations within Linkedin Groups. Linkedin is made up of professionals and if you join a group that is specific to your industry you can chime in on discussions and news being posted.

Next, use your expertise and write an article or email pitch that is unique. Think of an angle that the Readers would want to hear about and tell the media contact why. Social Media 22 has experienced PR professionals that can guide you through this process to ensure that you are heard in the media.
